Finding good supply chain and procurement candidates
November 13, 2009Ah, it’s Friday the 13th and we’ve already heard the bad luck experienced by TWO companies facing problems finding QUALIFIED supply chain candidates. One went through the internet ‘route’ and received well over a hundred resumes from potential candidates. “We thought that with the economy and unemployment rate, there would be an overabundance of good qualified candidates…but we were wrong,” added caller number one. The position was vacant for quite some time too – while they looked and reviewed an avalanche of resumes, which caused problems as well. Ultimately, that method didn’t work out at all, and they decided to hire from a personal ‘referral’ from a trusted source. It started out okay, the new person interviewed well, was presentable, but they’ve been in the role for a ‘few’ months now and is just not working out. “They’re just not doing the job properly, there are some ‘personal issues’ arising, AND at times, they’re just not showing up!”
Caller number two called to say that no, they’re not advertising their position on the internet, because “we know the caliber of some of the candidates you can attract that way,” and besides, their position had already been filled now for several months…by another recruitment agency (name withheld). The problem is, that the new employee is just not qualified, just not working out, and guess what…their previous recruitment agency is just NOT standing up to their guarantee!
Unfortunately this sort of bad luck is more prevalent than you’d believe, and it’s important that companies use the right methods of finding and recruiting QUALIFIED professionals, with an established recruitment firm, that stands by their guarantee period, focuses solely in that job’s profession – procurement and supply chain management, and has candidates available from coast to coast.
