Inside the Supply Chain and Purchasing Industry

The demand for Supply professionals has gotten RED HOT

January 19, 2011

The New Year has started off with a BANG with 12 new recruitment orders launching since January 4th. “I’ve not seen quite a diverse offering of Supply Chain opportunities for some time,” exclaimed Tim Moore, President of Tim Moore Associates. “Not only geographically with positions and orders coming in from Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, and Acheson (Alberta); but the expanding scope of job titles and requirements – all with a Supply Chain perspective and training required, as well.” It’s amazing the breadth and depth at which the Supply Chain function is evolving within Canadian organizations.

We have quite a dynamic and interesting slate of recruitment searches underway for our clients, including a Category Specialist role, VERSED IN SOFTWARE LICENSING and related products – such as technical support, hosted systems and leading edge electronic portals.

A Manager of Operations position, with a CALL CENTRE BACKGROUND to support company wide Supply Chain initiatives.

A Director, Industry Relations WITH A RETAIL PERSPECTIVE is needed for a returning client looking for a leader to be involved with launching new products and utilizing emerging technologies with a leading edge supply chain/logistics/solution provider in Toronto.

Surprizingly, we also need a Bilingual (English/French) Buyer TO BE LOCATED IN CALGARY with a prestigious returning client, to support their supply chain related operations right across Canada, including Montreal and the Province of Quebec.

Sadly, we’re still hearing of firms utilizing myriad job sites, boards, networking media and as many as 5 or 6 ‘OTHER recruiters’ with absolutely no success, before calling TMA.

Recently, we had one firm that had extended offers TWICE for the same role, to individuals that they had recruited THEMSELVES, only to have their efforts shattered and plenty of time wasted, when these deals fell through and no one showed up for work.

“We had them a qualified individual, within their salary range, that was ready to begin work in very short order – and guaranteed,” adds Tim. “On a follow up conference call last week, the client was elated with the candidate we recruited, and it’s shaping up to be a long lasting relationship.”

Still other firms are calling in to report interviewing as many as 80 candidates for a single role, with still no luck in finding a proper (Supply Chain) match. “I guess that’s why we’ve been around for almost 15 years now,” commented Tim.

Start the new year off right, but letting TMA know of your current or upcoming supply chain requirements. With over 8,000 professionals registered and a proven 15 year track record right across Canada, it’s no wonder that more and more organizations (public and private) are choosing TMA as their recruiter of choice for Supply Chain talent.
